Inserting advertisement unit within a publisher wordpress blog is very easy to do so. All you need to do is to paste the advertisement code within an article and once you have published that article you will see the advertisement unit appears in your post. Simple enough, but how about if you need to publish more than 10 posts per day? Then you will need to paste the code 10 times in 10 articles which is very troublesome indeed.

If you are a wordpress user then the below plugin will make your publishing work easy and simple because once you have everything set up properly then you will not need to worry about the advertisement part anymore so you can spend all the time concentrate on your writing instead. This plugin has two features, one will allow you to place advertisement within any position of your article and another one will let you rotate the advertisement units everyday!

Alright, without any further delays lets get started. First thing to do is to get to the setting page.

smart

Once in the setting page you should see the below page.

  • Click on the save change button (3) below the form to save that particular banner code.

Update Banner

  • Insert the new banner code into the embed area (1).
  • Enter the name of the banner which you would like to replace its code with into box labeled 2.
  • Click on the save change button (3) to update the changes.

View an advertisement banner

Render the banner

smart

You will see the meta box above appears on the right sidebar of your edit post or create new post page. Now it is very simple to show the banner on the post once you have completed the set up process mentioned in the first part of this tutorial.

All you need to do here is to select from the meta box which banner and in which position in your post that you want that banner to appear on. You can insert up till three ad units in the content area, you need to select an ad unit, specified the length of word and the right or the left position on a paragraph that unit should be located. For example if you choose an ad unit, select 150 and left position then the unit will be placed on the left position of the 150 words (or more) paragraph it first encounters. The default word’s value is 0 which means the ad unit will not look for any word but just placed on any paragraph it first encounters. The bottom unit is a lot more simple, just select an ad unit to be placed on the bottom of the content and that is it. That is the same for the unit on the sidebar of your post. After you have done with the selections, the banner(s) will appear on that post once you have published that post or updated it. If you do not select any banner from the meta box then no banner will appear in the post. If the ad unit under content area does not encounter the length of a paragraph you have specified then the ad unit will not appear on your post as well. If you go full scale then you can place up till 5 ad units on one single post! You can always change the banner ad in your post by just select another banner in the smart ad tags meta box then updated your post accordingly later on.

Make sure you delete the old cache after the update if you are using any of the plugin to cache the posts on your blog or else the new update will only appear after the cache period is over, this tutorial is not mean to explain about the cache because I assume you already understood how the cache plugin works and know what to do to allow the new content update to appear on your blog.

Insert the sidebar widget

smart

Next go to the widgets page in the blog admin area and grab the Smart Ad widget to the sidebar of that page. You do not need to set up anything here so just close the widget and that is it!

As you can see, you can select any banner to appear in any position of a post which means each post in your blog will have different banner appears on it instead of the same banner appears in the same position of every post (or the sidebar of every posts if you use the text widget which comes with wordpress cms).

Now lets select the second tab and continue with the second feature.

smart

You are in the ‘Short Code’ setting page now so let us start to configure the setting.

Save an advertisement banners

  • Insert the banner’s embed code which will appear on the content of the single post into box labeled 1.
  • Give that banner group a name in box labeled 2.
  • Select a day when that banner will appear on the post (3).
  • Click on the save change button (4) below the form to save that particular banner code.
  • You can create as many group as you wish.

Update Banner

  • Insert the new banner code into the embed area (1).
  • Enter the name of the banner group which you would like to replace its code with the new one into box labeled 2.
  • Select a day when that banner will appear on the post (3).
  • Click on the save change button (4) to update the changes.

Delete advertisement banner

  • Select the name of the banner group (5) you have created previously.
  • Click on the delete group button (6) and that banner group will get deleted from the data base.

View an advertisement banner

  • Select the name of the banner group (7) and the day (8) you have assigned the banner to. That banner will appear on your setting panel after that. Don’t click on that banner!

Render the banner

Insert this short code

[banners groups="onlinepc"]

(lets say ‘onlinepc’ is one of the group you have created) into any location in the content of a post and published or updated that post and you will see a banner appears on that post on a particular day. Lets make this more clearer, if you have assigned a banner to a group named ‘onlinepc’ and set the banner to appear on Monday then once you have inserted the shortcode above in the post content, that banner will appear on every Monday in that post but it will not show up on any other days besides Monday. Lets say you assign another banner to the same group and set it to Sunday then the second banner will appear on that post with the shortcode in it on Sunday but will not show up on Monday or any other days besides Sunday. If you just assign two banners to two days in a group instead of seven banners to all seven days then those slots that are empty will remain empty until you fill them up!

Besides the content area you also can insert the short code into the sidebar text widget area as well as the comment area (at the front end of your post). The banner which appears on the sidebar area will be the same on all posts, if you want to have different banner appears on different post then use the ‘content AD’ feature instead.

All right, that is it for the both feature. If you would like to see a sample on how the banner will render then just visit another of my plugin page and take a look at it.
